If they fold their cards, then they must leave the table and forfeit any winnings that they might have earned from that hand.
A good poker player will try to read their opponents and make decisions on the basis of probability and psychology. This is why it is important to practice as much as possible. However, it is impossible to be a great poker player without some natural talent. Even the best players will lose a lot of hands, especially when they are new to the game.
